Rules
Players and Characters
Irreparable is a real time, canon game. It is epilogue compliant, though not compliant to anything not printed in the books (JKR Interviews do not count because the information is not in the actual work).
All characters must start with a sexuality and if for some, rarely accepted, reason it changes, you must notify moderation.
All characters must have a PB. We require that the default icon be a picture of their face, not an abstract shoe, etc. Movie PBs are not accepted.
Keep your application in your journal following acceptance so other players can use it as reference.
Players must be active with each character for a week before picking up more. Character limits are not going to be defined by a static number, but rather by a consistent activity level. If you cannot finish threads with one character, we will not let you have a second. However, if you prove to be capable of juggling four with high activity and without crossing your plots too much, we will let you have five.
We do not condone players under 18 reading or participating in sexual content.
This game is, for all intents and purposes, adult. There will be sex, violence, and drugs. If these are not your forte, be forewarned this game may not be for you.
From acceptance you have five days to post an OOC intro and a journal or action post. This is so that I can quickly weed out no-shows instead of having a character tied up for two weeks with no intention of ever being played. It's sad, but in this day and age of online RP, some people do spend hours applying only to never play. We've seen it in this game, even.
Gameplay
NO ADLIBBING (deciding words or actions for other player characters). Also think about power-playing, meta-gaming, and all those other nasty terms. It's not acceptable. Pressuring other players into plots an actions they DO NOT want to participate in is power playing and against the rules. If you are unclear what these mean, please see the RP Lexicon at Story Form.
Major plot of character developments (cutting, serious injury, death, pregnancy, etc.) must be cleared by moderator and if the plot involves another player's character, cleared with that player as well. The purpose of this rule is to avoid one player doing something that screws up another character or throws a wrench in the plot of credibility of the whole game. Also remember power limitations and stick to the canon of magic in Rowling's universe.
Players must originate one post in story form every 14 day MINIMUM (Once a week is highly suggested. Periodic "sweeps" will be done to clear out inactive players.) We don't have to give warning. One journal post per week is suggested along with this. Journal posts are a good way to generate premise for threading.
Remember that your actions in character have consequences that must be realistically played out. Do not break a law or betray another character if you are not willing to have backlash in plot.
OOC Posts belong in the OOC community!
Refering back to Meta-gaming, please keep the line of your IC and OOC knowledge clear.
AIM transcripts go behind LJ-cut tags and should have a description and warning of sexual content. They belong, in story form, in the main community and do count as your action post.
RPing is in PAST tense, THIRD PERSON, dialogue goes in "QUOTES" Please refrain from bolding or italicizing dialogue. We know what "quotations" mean. Also please avoid OOC references in role-playing. This is something like: "Harry ran up the stairs quickly, which if his player did, she would have fallen on her face." It's really annoying and slows the thread with useless information. Also keep an eye on tense when talking about your characters likes and dislikes or what they often do. Those should still be in PAST tense and a lot of players tend to slip into present.
Do not get on anyone's case about length. We have no post length requirements here. You can write two sentences, you can write three paragraphs, as long as you keep the story moving. From our experience, the two-liners usually say just as much and sometimes it's better written. This isn't a word count contest, it is a game. If we hear from any player that they feel harassed about their word count by anyone else, we will be doing some sweeps. This is a game. And less is sometimes more.
Please do not F-Lock entries and threads. Spammers/Flamers are very rare and anyone trying to steal your writing could just as easily join to steal it anyway. The fact of the matter is, locking these posts makes it hard to reply remotely from iPods, work computers, phones, etc. Help us play when we're supposed to be at work and DO NOT Friend Lock any in-character content.
Journals function as personalized, custom books from Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes. They are linked and anything your write appears once the page is charmed. Strikeouts are legible but bolded strikeouts are not legible.
There are some basic etiquette guidelines listed at Story Form. This site was built by Amy and therefore you can bet she agrees to this article. Please read it over if you are new to RP.
Cliques are bad. Avoid cliques by being open to plot with more than your normal circle and being available for random interaction.
